Recommended Tools:
-
Metro Restyling Eco Glide Suede Squeegee: The best tool for achieving a smooth, scratch-free application on UTV surfaces—especially around soft plastics and curves.
-
Metro Restyling Inferno Heat Gun: An industrial-grade heat gun with precise temperature control, perfect for shaping vinyl on contours.
-
Metro Restyling Premium Pro Precision Knife (30°) + OLFA 30° Replacement Blades: For clean, accurate trimming around doors, corners, and fender flares.
-
Metro Restyling Anti-Static Wrap Gloves: Reduces static and keeps the vinyl surface clean during application.
-
3M Finish Line Knifeless Tape: Ideal for safely cutting clean lines around complex areas without using a blade.
Pre-Installation Preparation:
-
Clean All Surfaces Thoroughly:
-
Wash plastics and metal surfaces to remove all dust, oils, or trail grime.
-
Wipe down with 70% isopropyl alcohol to remove remaining contaminants.
-
Clean inside door frames, air intakes, and trim edges carefully.
-
-
Remove Panels If Possible:
-
Disassemble doors, side panels, bumpers, and roofs when accessible to wrap off the vehicle for the cleanest results.
-
Installation Instructions:
1. Dry Fit the Vinyl:
-
Before peeling, lay the vinyl over each section to plan material usage.
-
For best results, start with larger panels like doors or front hoods.
2. Apply with Control:
-
Tape the top edge of your panel and begin peeling the backing slowly.
-
Use the Eco Glide Suede Squeegee to gently smooth the film from center outward—its suede edge glides across the surface with zero risk of scratches.
3. Tackle Contours & Curves:
-
Warm the vinyl using the Inferno Heat Gun on a low setting to stretch around fenders, guards, or recessed panels.
-
Avoid overstretching—lift and reposition as needed.
-
Use relief cuts for compound curves or creases, overlapping vinyl slightly by ¼ inch.
4. Trim Smartly:
-
Use the Precision Knife with fresh OLFA blades to trim edges and seams cleanly.
-
For intricate areas like vents or door frames, use 3M Finish Line Knifeless Tape to avoid paint contact.
5. Final Touches:
-
Lightly reheat and apply pressure to all wrapped surfaces to seal the adhesive.
-
Let the wrap cure 24 hours before riding or washing.
Maintenance Tips by Finish:
Matte:
-
Avoid waxes or polishes—use matte-safe cleaners only.
-
Clean after muddy rides to prevent surface discoloration.
-
Dry with microfiber towels to avoid streaks.
Satin:
-
Use non-gloss detail sprays.
-
Wipe in straight strokes, not circular, to preserve sheen.
-
Avoid abrasive cleaning materials.
Gloss:
-
Hand wash only; avoid automatic or high-pressure washes.
-
Use vinyl-safe waxes or detail sprays for UV protection.
-
Clean frequently to prevent water spots and surface buildup.
