What’s Included:
Each ATV wrap kit includes a single 47in x 120in sheet of premium vinyl film—enough material to fully wrap most standard ATVs. Choose from matte, satin, or gloss finishes to match your desired look.
Recommended Tools:
-
Metro Restyling Eco Glide Suede Squeegee: Ideal for applying vinyl to contoured ATV panels without leaving scratches, thanks to its soft suede edge.
-
Metro Restyling Premium Pro Precision Knife (30°): For clean, accurate trimming around tight corners and complex shapes.
-
OLFA 30° Replacement Blades: Keep a fresh blade ready for clean cuts throughout your wrap job.
-
Metro Restyling Anti-Static Wrap Gloves: Helps reduce static cling while giving you a firm, controlled grip on the vinyl.
-
Metro Restyling Inferno Heat Gun: Adjustable temperature and power ensure precise control when heating vinyl over curves and indentations.
Pre-Installation Preparation:
Clean Your ATV Thoroughly:
-
Remove all dirt, grease, mud, and dust from plastics and metal parts.
-
Focus especially on tight creases and edges around fenders, tanks, and fairings.
-
Remove any old adhesive or waxes using isopropyl alcohol (70%).
-
If needed, use a bug and tar remover first, then follow with alcohol again.
Remove Accessories and Panels if Possible:
-
If your ATV allows, remove plastics such as side panels, fenders, tank covers, and front/rear guards. This allows easier and cleaner installs.
Installation Instructions:
1. Plan the Layout:
-
Before peeling any backing, test-fit each piece by laying the vinyl over the ATV to decide how to best use your material.
-
Mark or mentally note where seams or relief cuts might be needed for complex curves.
2. Work in Sections:
-
Start with larger flat areas like fenders or tank covers.
-
Use masking tape to tack down the top edge, then peel a portion of the backing and begin smoothing down the vinyl from the center outward.
-
Use the Eco Glide Suede Squeegee to apply light pressure and eliminate wrinkles as you go.
3. Handle Curves and Plastics:
-
Most ATV parts are made of highly contoured plastic. Use the Metro Restyling Inferno Heat Gun on low to gently soften the vinyl in tricky areas.
-
Do not overstretch—instead, lift and reposition as needed.
-
For deeply recessed areas, make relief cuts and overlap vinyl slightly by ¼ inch.
4. Trim Carefully:
-
Once a section is fully wrapped, trim excess vinyl along the edges with the Precision Knife (30°) for clean and controlled cuts.
-
For sharp corners or panel overlaps, fold vinyl underneath where possible for a clean finish.
5. Eliminate Air Bubbles:
-
Use an air release tool or a fine pin to pop any remaining bubbles and press the air out gently.
-
Avoid aggressive pressing that may damage the vinyl finish.
6. Repeat for Remaining Panels:
-
Work your way around the ATV, finishing each panel before moving to the next.
-
If wrapping in colder weather, ensure the vinyl and surface are warm enough for proper adhesion.
Post-Install Tips:
-
Go over the entire wrap with light heat and pressure to set the vinyl and increase long-term adhesion.
-
Reinstall any accessories, guards, and hardware removed before wrapping.
Finish-Specific Maintenance Tips:
Matte:
-
Avoid waxes or polish—these can cause shiny spots.
-
Use matte-specific cleaning sprays and microfiber cloths.
-
Clean frequently to avoid dirt embedding in the surface.
Satin:
-
Treat like matte but allow occasional use of gentle detailing sprays for added protection.
-
Wipe in straight lines rather than circular motions to preserve the sheen.
Gloss:
-
Hand wash only—avoid automatic washes.
-
Use standard vinyl-safe waxes and detail sprays to enhance shine and UV protection.
-
Remove bird droppings and bugs quickly to avoid staining.
