Car Interior Skin Installation Guide

What’s Included:

Each car interior skin kit includes a 15in x 59in sheet of premium vinyl film—perfectly sized for wrapping interior surfaces such as dashboards, door panels, center consoles, trim pieces, and even seat backs or sides. Available in matte, satin, or gloss finishes, this vinyl brings a customized look to your vehicle’s interior.

Recommended Tools:

Pre-Installation Preparation:

1. Clean All Surfaces Thoroughly:

  • Use 70% isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to wipe down all interior panels to be wrapped.

  • Remove oils, dust, and protectants that may prevent adhesion.

  • If panels are removable, take them off for easier wrapping.

2. Plan Your Layout:

  • Measure and mark which interior sections you want to cover.

  • Pre-cut vinyl pieces roughly to size before peeling the backing to reduce waste and make the process easier.

Installation Instructions:

1. Start with Flat or Slightly Curved Panels:

  • Apply to sections like the center console or dash trim first.

  • Peel back a few inches of the liner, align the vinyl, and use the Eco Glide Suede Squeegee to smooth the vinyl from the center outward in overlapping strokes.

2. Wrap Around Corners and Recessed Areas:

  • Gently warm the vinyl with the Inferno Heat Gun to stretch and mold it around complex shapes like door handles, knobs, and curves.

  • For deep recesses or angles, make small relief cuts to help conform the film.

3. Trim with Precision:

  • Use the Precision Knife (30°) to carefully cut along edges, around buttons, vents, or seams.

  • Always cut lightly to avoid damaging the underlying material.

4. Tuck and Seal Edges:

  • Fold vinyl edges under trim lines where possible for a seamless look.

  • Reheat and press gently with your squeegee or gloved hand to seal edges and ensure adhesion.

5. Repeat Across Interior:

  • Work your way through dashboard accents, door panels, seat trim, and consoles.

  • Use smaller pieces for tight sections to maintain clean application.

Post-Install Tips:

  • Let the vinyl cure for at least 24 hours before using interior cleaners or protectants.

  • Avoid direct sunlight and high interior heat for a few days after install to allow the adhesive to fully bond.

Finish-Specific Maintenance Tips:

Matte:

  • Avoid glossy cleaners—use matte-safe sprays and microfiber cloths only.

  • Clean regularly to prevent embedded dirt or oils from hands.

Satin:

  • Use soft, vinyl-safe cleaners and avoid abrasive scrubbing.

  • Wipe in straight lines to maintain the subtle sheen.

Gloss:

  • Use interior-detailing sprays safe for vinyl wraps.

  • Buff with microfiber to maintain shine and reduce fingerprints.
